Iris is a bay-grade pony mare standing 12.3 hands high. This cute, sturdy little mare came to us through NMLB after being picked up as a stray. Iris stands well for the veterinarian and farrier, loads quietly into a trailer, and enjoys grooming and attention. She is dependable and confident when ridden in the arena. However, Iris experiences significant anxiety on the trail, which can lead to challenging behaviors. She would benefit from additional training and confidence-building to help her become more comfortable and reliable in that environment.
Needs Intermediate Rider: Horse is still in need of some training; easy to saddle; little to no warm-up needed; shows consistency; starting to tolerate rider errors; knows basic horsemanship cues; periodically needs rider support (rein, leg, seat aids) to maintain speed/direction/cadence/posture.
