Gemma
June 20, 2022
Since her last update, Gemma has made some really good progress. She is more comfortable coming out of the pen for groundwork class and is much more respectful of her handlers. This summer, Gemma is participating in a 60 Day Groundwork Challenge with one of our volunteers. Good luck, Gemma!

Gemma has recently started working with a volunteer in our groundwork classes and has proved to need a lot of work. Though she is quiet in her pen for catching and grooming near her friends, Gemma is very herd bound and reactive when moved even a short distance from her paddock. She does not respect boundaries and is very pushy, has difficulty focusing on anything other than her herd mates and has a lot of anxiety. With patience, consistency and confidence building, hopefully she can learn that it is okay to be away from her herd for class.
Charley is a cute grade bay gelding who is friendly and enjoys attention. He is halter trained and learning groundwork. He loads in the trailer and loves to be groomed. Charley gets along best with mares and does get protective of his herd mates.
