October 28, 2020:

Vegas is in the evaluation process of ground work to determine if she will be able to be started under saddle. She is not very confident in herself and can get nervous with new things. We are giving her the opportunity to see if she can handle being saddled and eventually ridden.

October 7, 2020:

Vegas was selected in the Gimme Shelter Challenge, however only made it a month in training. She really struggled with saddling and had multiple moments of being very reactive. Vegas came back to the shelter and we are now giving her another chance at a slower rate to see if that will help her move forward in training.

Update October 15, 2019:

Vegas has really made some good progress in her training. She can still be a little shy and timid when meeting new people, but she is learning to trust and is gaining confidence. In the future we look forward to having some volunteers help with her ground work training to get her more exposed to different people and objects. Vegas will be held for the 2020 Gimme Shelter Challenge pool of horses.

Vegas is a 4 year old sorrel filly with a flaxen mane and tail. She was found with her front legs stuck in a cattle guard in the Bernal area and was removed with only a few scratches. Vegas is shy and does not appear to be halter trained so she will need some groundwork to get her to where she is able to be handled better. Currently in quarantine so not available for adoption.
