Available - Adoption fee $1000
Mik Provence

March 4, 2021:

Indy has shown some great progression in a relaxed state of mind in the last couple months.  Currently he is in the process of adoption.

January 14, 2021:

Indy has been slowly coming back into his own. He is now more confident and not as anxious as when he first arrived back. However he still can get quick footed and is unsure at times with reading the rider’s cues. He is starting to enjoy trail rides again, but can still get a little excited and rushed coming back to the ranch. He has made a lot of progress, however he still needs time under saddle until he is solid again. Indy will require an advanced rider to help him settle when being ridden.

December 3, 2020:

Indy was adopted out from the Gimme Shelter Challenge; however he was not working out in his new home. After his arrival at THS and his initial evaluation, it was apparent that he needs some additional training before he is ready to be adopted out again. Indy has shown that he is timid and nervous under saddle. We have been working on some exercises to help calm him and build confidence. At this time Indy is not available.

June 11, 2020:

Indy was selected for the 2020 Gimme Shelter Challenge and is currently off property for the 100 days of training with his trainer Mik Provence.  He will be available through our adoption-based auction at the completion of the event.  Please see the events tab above for more information and updates on all the horses in training.

October 15, 2019:

Indy is a sweet and smart guy.  He really enjoys learning new things.  He participated in a 60 day ground working challenge, through the Forever Foundation, with one of our volunteers and did very well with all the weekly tasks.  He now has had exposure to a flag, has learned to tie, and being in a trailer.  Indy will be held for the 2020 Gimme Shelter Challenge pool of horses.

Update May 11, 2019:

Indy has been evaluated under saddle and has shown that he knows a little bit with the saddle but not enough to be considered broke for adoption at this time.  Since he is the right age to fit into our group of horses for the Gimme Shelter Challenge, he will be held to be a part of next year’s challenge.  In the meantime, Indy will continue to work with volunteers on ground work and practicing obstacles.

Indy is a 5-year-old grade bay gelding that came to us through the NMLB after being picked up in the Penasco area. He had escaped with his buddy and they were found as estrays. Unfortunately his buddy was hit by a car and had to be euthanized. Indy was shy when he was picked up, but he has turned out to be a very friendly little guy. He is halter trained and loaded into the trailer. He will be further evaluated after his quarantine time.
